Psalm 121:1-5
I lift my eyes up to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord who made Heaven and Earth. He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper.
I was struck by this idea a few weeks back that the Lord is our keeper. He is our safety and our security. He protects and cares for all of us. I often tell the middle schoolers that our God is not someone who is 3,000 miles off, but He is close. He knows you intimately and there is no place you can run from his love.
Our God is bigger than a concept. He is transcendent beyond any comprehension. He is mighty to save. Our God is El Shaddai (Lord God Almighty), El Elyon (The Most High God), Yahweh Nissi (The Lord my Banner), Yahweh Raah (The Lord my Shepherd), Yahweh Rapha (The Lord that Heals), and El Olam (The Everlasting God). He is all this and yet He knows us, He knows you, and He is close.
God help me to feel your presence. Help me to see you. I want to know you God. I want to be known by you. God you are my keeper and security. May I not put my trust in anything less. Draw me close God and never let me go. I love you Lord.
