Something new is happening at Eagle Church. The specifics are not clear, but the direction is certain—becoming more like Jesus and helping others become more like Jesus. We want to know Jesus more, we want to pursue him together, and we want Jesus to inform and influence our everyday lives—Every Day.
In a world that always wants more—more money, more status, more stuff, more comfort, more, more, more—we recognize that these are only leaving people hungry. We have similar experiences at Eagle Church where we’ve been chasing more—more members, more budget, more programs, more, more, more. Still, we have found ourselves hungry for something more.
So what do we do about it? “Taste and see that the Lord is good (Psalm 34:8).” Anything short of Jesus will leave us hungry still.
In Mark 10:51, Jesus asked a blind beggar a profound question about his desire—“What do you want me to do for you?” If Jesus were standing in front of you today and asked you the same question, how would you respond? What do you truly desire at your core? We have found that meeting the world’s expectations leaves us wanting and that pursuing the life Jesus offers has been the only thing that fills and restores us.
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly (Matthew 11:28-30, The Message).”
This is Jesus’ invitation to us. At Eagle Church, we’re taking Jesus at His word, we’re pursuing His way of living and we’re orienting our lives around His purposes in this world. Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Join us as we pursue Jesus—More. Together. Every Day.
